In celebration of National Quality Month, the Philadelphia Section of ASQ and the Engineering Division of Penn State Great Valley will once again sponsor a symposium on statistical methods useful to quality practicioners. This years program will be held on Friday October 12, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Conference Center Building at Penn State Great Valley. The theme is "Harnessing Statistics to Improve Quality". The goal is to give attendees some useful facts and tools that can translate readily into practice.

The keynote speaker, Lori B. Pfahler, Director for the Center for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) in the Merck Manufacturing Division, will present “The Myth of Normality.”  Lori will examine some consequences of assuming normality when it isn’t so. The keynote address will be followed by two parallel sessions.

Statistical Engineering

Bill Rodebaugh, Chair of the ASQ National Statistics Division, will present “Leading an Organization with Statistical Engineering.”

Gurbachan Chadha, Process and Statistical Engineer, Boeing Military Aircraft will present  "Statistical Engineering: An Enabler to Engineering Excellence at The Boeing Company."

Planning and Conducting Statistical Studies

Julia O’Neill , Principal Engineer and Master Black Belt in Viral Vaccine Technology and  Engineering at Merck & Co., Inc. will present “Continued Process Verification"

Tom Bzik, Sr. Research Associate Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. will present “Optimum Response Surface Design.”

Lunch and Networking  12:30 pm to 1:00 pm
